Richins said Eric, 39, consumed the cocktail in bed. A few hours later, she said she found him unresponsive. Following a call to 911, authorities pronounced him dead. Citing the affidavit for a search warrant, The Salt Lake Tribune reports, "The day after Eric's death, Kouri closed on the home, alone. She later invited her friends over for a large party at her home where she was drinking and celebrating." In February 2022, the acquaintance reportedly contacted a dealer in Ogden, Utah, and got 15 to 30 fentanyl pills. Richins visited the acquaintance’s residence in Summit County and paid them $900.Nearly two weeks later Richins contacted her acquaintance once again and received another round of fentanyl pills for $900. “The defendant told (the acquaintance) to leave the pills at the outdoor fire pit of the Midway, Utah house where there was cash waiting for her,” stated court documents.
