Francis Ngannou steps into the PFL smart cage for the first time
Francis Ngannou has ARRIVED in the PFL smart cage
In the past, PFL consisted of only in-season fights. They were dark for much of the year. But now that they have bought out Bellator and started many other divisions outside of the global season, there's room for events outside the season format. PFL hosted two super fight series cards this year and there's room for at least one more before the 2025 season begins. Here are three fights we think the PFL needs to make for the next super fight card. 1. Patrico Pitbull vs. Jesus PinedoThis fight was supposed to be on the first super fight series card but an injury to Pinedo forced him off the card. Since then, neither Pitbull nor Pinedo have fought. Both have been scheduled, but due to several reasons, neither have made it into the smart cage. Pitbull is easily Bellator's most decorated fighter and Pinedo was the 2022 PFL champion. There's no better return fight for either of these men than each other. 2. Patchy Mix vs. whoever he wantsPatchy Mix might be the best fighter not signed to the UFC right now (we aren't counting Francis Ngannou since he's a former UFC fighter). We need to see Mix get back into the cage and fast. He's the best talent that PFL has and they should really be eager to get him in the cage more than anyone. There's no 135-pound division in PFL but they could find literally anyone for Mix and it would be fireworks. 3. Cédric Doumbé vs. Shamil MusaevShamil Musaev just won the 2024 PFL championships and he looks like a tall task for any PFL or Bellator fighter. But Cédric Doumbé might just be up for the task. Doumbé has been pushed hard by PFL and this could be a huge boost to his global goals.
